Testimony of Cliff G. Lumumba:
The rate of orphans at an early stage in Kenya has risen over the past years at an alarming rate. The Majority being the victims of HIV. Most of the orphans are not treated well by the society who regards them as bad outcast to the community hence leading to hardship in their livelihood.
I being the victim have experienced this hardship and found how hard it is taking care of my siblings at a younger age. It is not my wish to be an orphan or being happy being one. What am trying to say is that is not anybody’s fault to be an orphan. Born in a family of four, three brothers and one sister being the eldest I had to show the rest that it’s not the end of life.
When all both parents die (as mine did) its real important for the children to be consoled and also given support and that will make them to see that he, or she is loved by both the relatives and the community. They should be taken care off in time for needy, and mostly when they have problem.
From my practical experience, I have really faced a lot of challenges because I had to play the role of a parent making sure that everyone gets proper education, food, shelter and clothing. From my parents long illness we had to use a lot of resources in clearing the hospital bills. My father died two years later my beloved mother, whom all those time was encouraging us that it's not the end my children, so you have too work harder and make sure that you respect other people, regardless of whatever circumstance you are. She later passed one year later after struggling for long may the lord rest her soul. My mother’s words kept us going even now. We always think all the good things she always told us. Even when we think about our parents we just remember the good times we had with them now we just miss them wishing one day we will see them.
We were left lonely and wondering, "Why us? What have we real done so that our parents had to live us behind?" So many questions were in our mind but the only people who supported us were my grandparents my uncles, my aunties and those who were closes to us. May the lord bless them all for the support that they have shown us for the good times and bad times.
It was by God’s grace that we had an advantage, because my father was working in Kenya Airport Authority with good pay, and with the better scheme to the beneficiaries that’s how we managed to get our education to the O level. MY BIG QUESTION is, "What of those orphans who are not advantage to have some of their daily needs education and clothing nobody to take care of them?" That made me to think of working and helping orphans through trying with all that I can from our self-help group This why I joined 'Rafiki Caring Home' to help and encourage the innocent children--not to give up in life for they have the right to live just like any other person.
Currently we do hire the recorders to make the Videos for 'Rafiki Caring Home' and it is my daily prayer that one day we may find our own for winder coverage of our project without limitation charging them even if we do not have the resources but that’s God work to through us to help others.
In few remarks, I find life with orphans interesting because I would like to help whenever can. In filming in Rafiki we wish to have the digital and video, and Computer to make it easy and cheap, so that we can have the needed information at anytime, to whosoever may need it to help the children not only in 'Rafiki Caring Home' but to other similar organizations. THANKS A LOT AS WE LOOK FORWARD FOR THE CHILDREN AS THEY ARE TOMORROW’S GENERATION. MAY THE LORD BLESS YOU FOR YOUR ENCOURAGING WORDS! Thanks a lot Rev. Cathryn for the wonderful
good work you are doing for the children. |
