Activity 3:  File Management

It is important to organize the site well from the very beginning.  This will avoid problems with broken links or missed images in the future, especially as the site grows.

Create the directory and sub directories
1.  Double click on My Computer.
2.  Double click on your last name.
3.  Click on File...New Folder.
4.  Name it My Web Site.
5.  Double click on My Web Site.
6.  Click on File...New Folder.
7.  Name it Images.
8.  Click on File...New Folder.
9.  Name this Pages.

Create a blank page with a title for each page on your site map.

1.  Open up Composer.
2.  Click on  the New icon.  Click on blank page.
3.  Click on file..save as.  Click on the down arrow double click the website folder.  Double click the folder named pages.
4.  Type in the name you want to call this page.  Make sure that the file name is all one word.  NO SPACES.  Click on OK.
5.  Composer will prompt you for a name for your page.  You can create the title for this page with spaces and upper and lowercase.
6.  Click on OK.
7.  Repeat steps 2-7 for each page of you website.1

Save Images into your image folder
1.  Click on Clipart.
2.  Right click on an image.
3.  Click on Save image as.
4.  Click on the down arrow and double click the website folder. Double click the folder named images.
5.  Type in the name of the image.  Make sure it is all one word.
6.  Click on save.
