A powerful television mini-series about the early days of the RAF in France captures a fascinating, if fictional, picture of the daily lives of RAF pilots.  It is a human story filled with interesting characters, but at the same time chock full of aerial combat footage.  While the major inaccuracy is the lack of Hurricanes for the Battle of France sequences, this can be forgiven easily due to the rarity of airworthy Hurricanes and additionally, because the Spitifires in the film are so beautiful in the air it is nice to see footage of them regardless of historical details.
Most of the aerial footage is newly filmed for the series while a small portion of it, mainly shots of Me109s and exploding planes are taken from Battle of Britain.
In the film, as in the real war, pilots come and go, but there are two noteworthy additions to the cast of the production.  Some characters in the film are volunteers, one American and two Czechs, giving the production an accurate perspective of the Battle of France and, in the final episodes, the Battle of Britain.
