| My name is Rafael von Gehlen. I was born in Passo fundo, Brazil, in 1973. I started my musical activities when I was 10 years old, learning the violin. Few months later, I started to play piano as my second instrument, which after some years, became my first instrument actually. I made my debut at the age of 14, playing Haydn concert in d major with the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra (OSPA). After that, I have been invited to play with this and other orchestras many times, performing the following works: Shostakovitch second concert(1988), Beethoven second concert(1989), Mozart concert number 23(1990), Beethoven fourth concert(1991), Chopin second concert(1994), Mozart concert number 21(1995), Ravel concert for the left hand(1997), Brahms first concert(1999) , Shostakovitch First concert (1999) and Brahms second concert(2000). By the age of 18, I went to Vienna to study in the Vienna academy of music(Wiener Musikhochschule),where stayed for 5 years. In 1997 I made a CD recording with the following works: Chopin polanaise-fantasie opus 61, Beethoven sonata opus 111 and Mozart sonata kv 280 in f major; and in 1998 I recorded another CD with Brahms sonata number 3 opus 5, Brahms Rapsodie number 2 opus 79 and Liszt trancendental etude number 6, Vision. If you want to see my entire repertory enter here. Although music plays an important role in my life, I have many other interests. Science is one of them. I started to study physics in 2002 and graduated in december 2005. I am specially interested in the foundations of quantum mechanics, quantum computation and quantum information in general. Another thing I really enjoy is to swim and to run. Stay healthy and you will live more, which means that you will have more time to discover the wonders of the world... |
