In loving memory of my great uncle George Seers

I have a great number of great uncles and aunts, all of which i know so much about due to my grandfather, and grand mother who have writen family storys on them....but Gearge stood out to me in so many ways for him himself...but also in another way.
Ever since i inhereted my great aunt's ardrobe (Georges younger sister)  i always knew there was somethign special about it, it use to always open by its self, for no reason...as a little girl (now i'm starting to sound like my grandmother..great)  i use to pretend there was a ghost in my wardrobe called Milissa.....it wasn't until a couple of years ago i found out it was true...and the ghost..or 'essence' or what ever u want to call it, was actually my great uncle george.
i now talk to him using a seounce, mainly through ordinary playing cards. (be sceptic all u want..say i'm crazy and silly..i dont care...but i do it and it works)

Well about him.....
He was born at "Valetta" in McLachlan strees n orange, around 2 am on monday the 20th of April.  he was batised and all that too, went to infants school and the rural school.  After leaving school became emplyed as a Draper (frabrics and stuff like that), and keen on sports.  joined  W3Battalion A.I.F.  his reimental number was 3225, and before long he was promted to Lance Corporal,  He sailed to Europe abored the "Beltana"  (after many years family homes have been named after this ship)   On arrivail to the front, He sent home his watch to his older sister Mabel (my great grandmother),  after his death she promised to treasure it her whole life.  Just before her death in 1986, the watch was given to my grandfather, who gave it to his cousin, who is the only living SEERS left.

George, was killed in the bitter fighting at Dernacourt, France, between the 5th and 6th of April 1918.   His body, or any ID were never found.  His family didn't find out till whilst they were celebrating the end of the war.

A stone in his memory. marked with his name, rank and number, stands at Villers Bretonneux in France. And there is a tree palnted in his memory in Bathurst Road, next to the one on the courner of the east side of McLachlan street, and the south side of Bathurst road in orange..  (there is a plauge but that was removed from the family in fear of vandalism.)

In my wardrobe i have a poppy (from the national war marmorial, (i also put one next to his name))  and clipings from his tree, taped up in the top courner.

Even though i never knew you in person George, i will always love you, and feel safe knowing your there watching me sleep at night.
