In August 2003, Kouhei and I traveled throughout Wakayama.  There, we did a temple stay, visited the former residence of the royal family, hiked, and took lots of great photos.

Fusuma, or painted sliding doors.  These are part of the residence that once belonged to the royal family of Japan.
Our destination, After hiking all afternoon, we finally reached this shrine tucked in the mountains along Kumano Kodo, an ancient road travelled by the most devout followers of Buddhism.  It takes nine days to reach the final destination!
