ChiChi winced
again at the pain in her right breast. She tried hard to hold back the
tears, as the pain grew worse. She
set the bowl of rice on the table for her and her father. ChiChi went to
the phone and called the doctor.
"When did this all happen, ChiChi?" the doctor asked, concerned.
ChiChi thought. "For about 7 months now."
The doctor nodded. "Come. We'll give you a mammogram."
ChiChi went to the
room, and took off her shirt, and then bra. The doctor guided her to the
mammogram, and placed her breast to the holes. ChiChi heard several clicks
as pictures were taken.
ChiChi arrived home after the doctor explained what it was. She came through the door in a daze.
"ChiChi?" She heard a voice.
"ChiChi?" The voice repeated.
Then a very
handsome man came into the living room where she was standing. It was Goku.
"Ano, ChiChi, Goten and me are very hungry." He put a hand
behind his head. "Ano, ChiChi? Are you going to yell at me?
ChiChi?" Goku put his hand down, looking very concerned. "ChiChi?
Doshitno?"
ChiChi couldn't hold it any more. She ran to Goku and hugged him very tightly, sobbing against his chest.
"ChiChi?" Goku hugged her. "Doshitno? What's wrong?"
"G-Goku-s-san," ChiChi sobbed. Goku guided her to the table. ChiChi took a deep shuttering breath to calm down. "I-I went to the doctors today. He took some tests."
"Oro?" was all he could say.
"I took a test and the doctor told me it was breast cancer."
Goku could only stare.
"I'm going to
got into surgery in 3 months- kemo therapy."
"Oh." Goku just looked on. "Can cancer kill?"
ChiChi gulped and nodded. Goku was in shock so he didn't say much.
"Okaa-san!
Mommy!" 7 year old Goten yelled. He ran to ChiChi and hugged her.
ChiChi hugged Goten tightly and sobbed. "Okaasan- too t-tight!"
ChiChi let go of him. Goten looked at his mom and could tell that something was bothering her. "Doshitno, Okaasan?"
"Kaasan is sick right now, but the doctors are going to help her get better."
Goten looked on. "You get better, wont you?"
ChiChi shook her head. "I don't know."
"But whenever you get sick, you always get better."
ChiChi's red eyes vibrated again. "This is a different kind of sickness."
All Goten could do
was ask question after question.
Goku came up to
ChiChi and sat her on his lap. Just the 3 of them sat there and hugged
each other, wondering if this was going to be the last time they see each other.
