Destined Virtues
Chapter 8 by Tokumei Kibon

They flew faster than they'd ever flown before.  Gohan was in dreadful danger, and they had to get to him before his life was taken away from him.  Piccolo blasted up next to Kuririn.  He'd sensed Gohan's distress too.

She flew gracefully and silently towards her destination.  She was closing in and would be there in a few short minutes.

Juuni-gou walked around Gohan, surveying his strength.

"You're very strong... the strongest from what I can tell."  He stopped and looked him in the eye, then looked up.

"Looks like your friends are coming..." he paused and looked down cruelly, "and so is mine."

Gohan shivered in fear.  He knew that his friends were coming, but what use would it do?  They were all useless when it came to fighting the jinzouningen.

He wanted to say something to Juuni-gou.  To his father.  The words wouldn't come though, it was so hard to even say one single word to this... the enemy.

Juuni-gou smiled and looked to where Juuichi-gou was flying towards them.

"Hey kid!" he said in an amused tone.  "You'll like Juuichi-gou.  I know you don't like me all that much but she's great with kids.  Besides, all I want to do is fight you.  I'm in the mood for fighting, not killing today."

Gohan looked to where Juuni-gou was looking.  "Oh, and kid?  Nice hair."  He glanced at Juuni-gou when he paid him some sort of a compliment.

Juuichi-gou landed a few feet away from Gohan.  She looked at him silently in awe for what seemed like an eternity.  She remembered her dreams, dreams of what looked like the past.  Her past.

Just then, Kuririn, Yamucha, Tien, Choazu and Piccolo landed behind the somewhat reunited family.  They looked at them in surprise, but Kuririn knew that there was no time to waste.  He looked over at Gohan simplistically before confronting his foes.

"You kidnapped Gohan... you fight with us."  With that, the Z-warriors powered up.  Giving it all they had, they charged up to their maximum.  Gohan was their only hope, he was and would be, the strongest.

Juuni and Juuichi looked on in boredom and Gohan sat behind them still very shocked at all that he'd taken in.

"Juuni-gou... take care of them will you?" Juuichi-gou asked as she walked back over to Gohan.

"No problem Juuichi."  With that, Juuni-gou streaked forward ready for action.  All, except Kuririn, fought him with all their might.

Kuririn got all his power ready for a Kamhameha to throw at Juuichi-gou.  I have to.  She'll kill Gohan, I... I have to destroy her NOW !!  He started to cup his hands and brought them back into place.

Juuichi-gou walked up slowly to Gohan.  "Gohan..." she whispered.  "Is that really your name?"  She kneeled down to his height and her gaze softened considerably.  She was very oblivious to what was going on, other than she'd met Gohan.

Kuririn threw the kamehameha.  The rest seemed like slow motion for everyone.  Juuichi-gou had dodged the massive blast.  Kuririn couldn't steer the ki blast away from Gohan.  The next thing everyone knew was a big explosion.

Juuni-gou seached for Juuichi with his eyes filled with surprise.  He stopped attacking the others and shot over to where the explosion went off.  Kuririn just stood there, shock upon him, he fell to the ground from exhaustion and disbelief.

No... No, it didn't hit him... It couldn't have hit him... he thought to himself as he watched the scene replay in his head.  "GOHAN!!!!!!" he yelled helplessly into the air that was thick with silence.

She surveyed the damage.  Hardly a scratch, she thought as she looked down at what she had examined.  His eyes were shut very tightly and he was curled up into a ball shaking.  She unwrapped her arms from his small body.

"It's ok... Gohan you can open your eyes," she said with a small laugh.

He opened one eye and peered at her through it cautiously letting the smoke and dust calmly drift away from her body.  He didn't know what to say, yet he had to say something

"You... you..."

"Saved you?  Well... yeah I guess I did."  She smiled hesitantly as she stood up and saw Juuni-gou running towards them.

"Can I ask you... why?"  He looked at her so questionably.  He didn't need anyone to tell him that this was his mother.

"I'm sorry... I'll speak to you again... Gohan."  She said his name with such affection that he knew she wasn't lying.

She shot up into the air like a bullet and flew faster than his eyes could see.  Juuni-gou looked at him questionably too and the gave a strange sort of smile before leaping into the air to join his partner, Juuichi-gou.

All the other Z-warriors could do were stare in absolute shock as Gohan got up reluctantly and dusted himself off with a smile.
