ABOUT RADIOROTE. RadioRote is named after Die Rote Kapelle, a resistance group that sent radio transmitted signals to the Soviet Union regarding vital information about the NAZI fascists during World War II. The transmitters those anti-NAZI agents used inside the Germany territories were called "music boxes" by the German Gestapo, and thereafter referred to that anti-fascist ring as the 'Red Orchestra', or 'Die Rote Kapelle'. However, RadioRote neither uses a "radio" to disseminate information. nor is it "Red" in the context of supporting the former Soviet Union. Nor does it intend to release top secret information to anyone. The name was chosen to honor those brave enough to fight against a form of fascism. RadioRote chooses from the "cafeteria of ideas" and is no more enamored with Noam Chomsky on the Left, than it is with Lynn Cheney on the Right. The intention of RadioRote is not to be a lap dog for one side or be a thematic one-trick-pony, but to bring to light issues of importance oftentimes not presented in other formats or media. Although RadioRote does contain some steadfast opinions, the objective of RadioRote is much more multi-faceted:
suggestions. Not all subject categories are included (such as entertainment) because some categories may be found in other places and in abundance. It should be noted that sometimes the news feed spider may include a headline in a category not intended to be in the news page, such as a "landslide" political victory in the "Natural Disasters" News Update page, (of course, the victory may turn out to be a disaster). The software program used to collect stories from around the world is not human and yet still errs. Further, if one finds a News Update item questionable, then it would be up to the reader to find other related sources on the topic -- for checking out other sources is an integral step in performing research. Therefore, it should be noted that RadioRote is not held responsible for any news item found on the News Update page. As in life itself, the final thoughts in the decision making process is left up to each individual. One last note: Many of these News Update items are protected by copyright laws.
