Home                        Back
The coffee cup.  Coated with
caffeine residue.  Sitting in
a pool of milky, brown
liquid gleams at me.
Beams proudly.
The spoon with its ridiculous
handle and crusted remains
is really quite beautiful
when cleaned.
Note to self: Must wash.
The ash tray, filled with
scraps and butts is the
story of my life.  A collage
of ideas and inspirations
that end no where.
The half smoked pack of
Marlboro's, born out of
hatred and lust
mocks my dreams of
a healthy self.
The dirty underwear, strewn
hastily on the floor laughs
at last nights romp.
The sleeping, disfigured form
next to me screams its name
and claims my pride.  Woken,
it will retreat silently to
its own abode where it
will be silenced for eternity.
This is my life.
The green crust which coats
my eyelashes patiently
awaits its discardation.
The brown stained teeth
and putrid breath
seek cleaning.
The nails need clipping and
the ears swiping.
This is my life.
For all those who have better
Tell me your secret.  The
key to unlocking the closet
door.  Of ridding the
confines of leather shoes,
and sweaters blood-stained with
slaves hands.
This is my life.
To those who inspire, I want
the magic gift too.  12/2/00
