| The late 1960's and early 1970's were a wonderful time for racing in Nebraska. Great horses such as Vale of Tears, Joey Bob, Kathryn's Doll, Foreign Comet, Prince Astro and so many more.Personalities like "Cowboy Bob Ellis" and his horses, the Van Bergs (Marion H. and Jack), The Kemlings with all their speedy two year olds, L.J. Durousseau, Lonnie Ray and Fred Ecoffey. It was indeed a grand place for racing. It was a grand place to be. That Ak-sar-ben was a reflection of a great time in America, a portrait of the great people who loved the sport, their community and their country. | ||||||||||||||||||
