| A Biography on RadioFlyer The band first began in the Spring of 2003 when one day at school, Henry, a beginner at guitar, Andrew (Lead Guitar), and Ryan (Drums) decided to try and form a punk band. The three jammed together at several practices before Richard, a begiinning bassist, was added to the lineup. Ar first, the band had little writing sucess and consequently, didn't practice over the three months of summer. Then, at the beginning of their sophomore year, they unofficially called it quits, due to lack of interest. However, one day in November of that fall, tha band decided to give playing together a second try... This was a wise decision. The time they had spent apart proved to be highly beneficial towards the development of the band. Both Henry and Richard had greatly improved on their instruments. The writing process also becoame easier, and at their first practice as a reunited band, they wrote their first instrumental song, which they later entitled "Matches". Henry and Andrew had clearly developed into an unstoppable writing duo, capable of magically producing full-length, incredible songs during a single sitting. The band soon wrote their second song "A Tale of Two Lives"; then, one day at practice, the band finally decided on an official name: Radio Flyer. Yet, one aspect of the band remained unfulfilled... the singer. So, while still practicing instrumentally, the band began to search for a singer and after a month of searching, they still had no possible candidates (except for Jamil, A.K.A., DJ shade, who listened to Korn, Limp Bizkit, Disturbed, and SIMPLE PLAN??? He did not seem qualified.). Around this time, "Interact Music Festival" at Collegiate began to call upon school bands to perform. Radio Flyer quickly signed up to play their two originals. This would be their first major show before a large audience. About four days before the scheduled night of the show, something miraculous happened. While online, Ryan's neighborhood friend Ari told him that she had found a good singer named John Alley, who was interested in joining the band. So, Ryan invited him to come hear Radio Flyer play live at Interact. After putting on "an amazing performance", John Immediately decided to join. The band's lineup was now finally complete. John then began coming to practices, and he added lyrics to"Matches". The band then wrote their third and best song yet,"The Flight of the Phoenix" and John soon added lyrics as well..After their performance at Interact, Radio Flyer had become an overnight hit among the students of Collegiate. Many anticipate the release of the band's first demo CD, which will hopefully be coming out before the end of the school year. This CD wouldn't be possible without the help of our technician/recorder/producer Russell Sharpe. We are Radio Flyer, and we kick ass. |
