MP3 Music is now one of the hottest propertys to be involved in, we have run Atlantic Sound Disco since 1992, when we started it was all tapes and vinyl records, since 2001 i have converted my entire collection of CD's, Minidiscs and Vinyl to MP3 format.
The obvious advantage to using MP3 over traditional formats is the simplicity of carrying one hard disk drive and a PC which we connect into our DJ mixer, by using high grade sound cards and a decent mixer the sound is fantastic, all our music tracks have been converted at 256 Kbps.
I hope to be investing in some new hardware soon, at present I am using an Acer Travelmate 246LC laptop and 250 GB external hard drive, soon we will be buying the new Numark HCD01, I feel this is the way professional DJ's will now go, MP3 is obviously a dominating force in modern music, so we might as well accept it to our advantage.
