Photos Smugged Out From Tong-Ying Island

Tong-Ying is a small island about 150km North-West of Taipei. It is the front
defense line we have against the Red China. The Communists have always wanted
to take over this spot guarded by thousands of freedom fighters of Taiwan. 

I serve my country as a soldier in army infantry units on this island for almost
20 months. The first few months were the hardest. I was assigned to a
construction troop to build a memorial temple for the deceased President of Taiwan,
Chiang Ching-Kuo. Carrying cement bag of 50kg (100lb +) for weeks up and down the
bamboo ladders almost killed me. Luckily, I was assigned to a post more suitable for
my talents, only later. This 'new' job was to shoot people with camera and edit a
newspaper which utilize probably the last lead font printing system in the whole country.
