When you switch on a light in a darkened room, the darkness vanishes. It doesn't go anywhere, it just gets filled with rays of light. Darkness is not a thing or a quality in itself, it is simply a relative absence of light. So darkness has no power in the face of light. When the two meet, light overcomes darkness immediately.
In the same way, evil has no power in the face of beauty. When we begin to turn towards beauty, our souls are gently healed of sadness, fear, selfishness and pride. As we gradually become more aware of beauty, and more able to appreciate and value it, we gradually grow in peace, and its associated values of love and compassion. Fighting the evils of the world will become far more effective if we focus more on its beauty than we do on the evils themselves.
The inner nature of people is goodness. When fighting evils of the world, and restoring balance, we can trust in that goodness. It won't be necessary to lecture or berate or even get angry about the issues. All that will be necessary is to stimulate discussion and ideas, and provide opportunities for growth, and eventually people will do what is right.
Just as it is in the nature of light to overcome darkness, so it is beauty's natural function to overcome evil. Those who speak with their hearts full of love and beauty will achieve more in the long run than those whose hearts are filled with anger about injustice.
Let the beauty on these webpages fill your heart, and let your spirit soar with their beauty. Let it elevate and uplift you, let it heal your soul. That will do more to spread light into the shadows than fighting the shadows themselves.
Above all, remember to be very patient with people who cannot see, or who refuse to see, beauty in the things you love. Remember that they are only harming themselves. They cannot influence you. Only beauty can.
