I do not believe it, I have actually got the bloody scort up to a level thats ready for a respray, only took what, 6 months :). Anyways, jobs that I completed were to paint the front brake calipers black, sort out last bit of filling and undersealing, and I replaced the passenger side wind down window, only took two minutes to do, I was expecting a pathetically hard job, for once some thing thats gone right :). Thinking about it though something tells me I should of just left the window out for it going in for a spray. Anyhoo, few other bits and pieces need doing but they can wait till cars sprayed, I want the room back in my garage to sort me 4 door out :). Ive also cleaned up my webber carb but the choke plate thigys movement is a bit sticky, so I guess I will have to try that out in the car to see if the choke cable is strong enough to shift the plates. Think ill give the guy whose number ive got for a respray a bell this weekend. Just hope ive got enough cash to cover the respray :/.
I have also slightly updated the links
and added another link, check out the sites.

Well, progress as I promised, but I still did my uni work today as well, I really am a lazy git. Got the back brake shoes fitted, they work really good, think it proves the ones on my 4 door are none existent. They were a bit of an arse to put on though, me and my dad used brute force in the end. I also did a bit of car body filling to smooth some areas off. So need to do a bit more filling, and I thought it may be a good idea to see if the person who is going to spray my car does welding as well. that way I can have my car ready for painting this week. Also this evening, me n me dad went to look at a weber twin choke carb on the manifold, offered the bloke 20 notes and the carb was mine :). I am told the air filter for it is £60 though so thats made my bargain look a bit more expensive :P.

News: 12th March 2003
I have purchased a new set of back break shoes for my 2 door escort today (probably should of got some for 4 door as well :P) and have put some wheel bearings on order for my 4 door, the vibration and whirring noise from the front of the car is really starting to piss me off, so I thought I better fix it. Dunno when ill get a chance to fit the new gear as ive got quite a bit of uni work to do at the moment, if im a good lad and get that out the way on firday, then I can mehbes do it on sunday. I have also rang around various old ford breakers today for a price on a second hand passenger side window, £10, which is not too bad at all, so I will go and pick that up next tuesday probably when ive got some free time.

News: 9th March 2003
Didnt do much on the car today, I wire brushed down my back drums and painted them black with hammerite and discovered I need some new back brake shoes in the process. Also ive decided im gonnah let whoever sprays my car can prep the rest of the bodywork on my car because I cant be arsed. I now need a new front window for the passenger side door because my dad inadvertintly has melted it when he was doing some angle grinding near the car, brilliant. I can see trying to track down a clear 2 door window is going to be fun!

News: 7th March 2003
Been over a week since I updated this website, but thats because I have not been doing any work on my car :/ . Anyways, managed to drag my arse out of bed today and got cracking on the car today. I had ordered some p40 grit sanding belts for my dads belt sander because there was a load of filler needing sanded off, but them p40's made sharp work of it =). All the filler I was sanding down was around the bottom of the car where all the new metal had been welded on but whoever did it obviously couldnt be bothered to smooth it in properly, so thats what im doing. Im pleased to say though the only problem I have found underneath it is that the end of the sill has not been welded onto the back passenger wheel arch. So thats only that chassis that needs plating and that bit of the sill that needs welded, thank god. Anyways, I was chuffed to see the door bottoms are not even rusty, so that filler did do some good I guess. I also wet and dry sanded my front bumpers down again and gave them 3 coats of satin black. I will leave them until sunday to dry up then sand them back again. I was also going to paint my brake calipers and back drums black with some hamerite today, but it started to rain and I did not particularly want the bare metal ive just sanded back to, exposed to the rain, so ive called it a day. There will probably not be any pictures for a while because my mate wanted his camera back, nuff respect for him letting me lend it so many times though :P .

Well as I said I was going to, I fitted my second hand alternator to my 4 door escy and it works a treat, so my dad can have his nice polished one back =). Other stuff I have been doing today is I have started work on taking off the layer of crinkled bodge off of the bottom of my car, from the sills upwards, but I only did quarter of the car and 2 sanding belts snapped, bugger. Going to have to find out where I can order some more of those from. On the plus side the bodge was not there to hide any crappy repairs, it was hiding some good metal and the slight step in the welding lines of the good new metal, so I will attempt to make it look nice and flush once I get all the bodge off. Also I have been doing a bit more work on my bumpers. I have given my front quarter bumpers a few coats of primer and letting that harden before I rub it back down again, and I have also rubbed down my back bumper with some wet and dry and given it a couple more coats of satin black. That needs to harden up and be sanded again though, finish is not as good as I would like just yet =/. Think Ill get cracking on some other jobs that need doing on friday, then worry about the holes in the chassis. If you would like to see some picture of my bumpers and the area that I have taken bodge off the car, click here.

Bought a second hand alternator today, because my dad wants his back for his kit car, so I will probably get round to fitting it on wednesday after ive cleaned it up a bit, give it a sanding down or summik. Not much else going on really so I shall leave it at that.

Oh car how you mock me, was just getting round to getting me car sorted for respray, (im getting there honestly), but I have been removing any conspicous looking underseal, only to discover two big holes in the chasis in the passenger side, BUGGER. The holes are where the car has been welded previously, the plates seems to have just disintegrated. I have noticed that not a lot of rust protection was carried out by previous ownwers when the car has been welded, I mean it doesnt take 2 minutes to chuck on a bit of primer or something to stop it rusting. Anyways, I guess I will have to try some local garages to see if they do welding, so I can drive the car there :). (bit dodgy with the car in bits yeh see). On another note, ive temporarly swapped my alternator with the one out of my dads kit car for my 4 door escort until I get a second hand one. It seems to be working, I think, too hard to tell because the electrical systems on my car keep working properly then really slowly, weird. Anyways, check out some pics of the holes in my chassis here :/

News: 20th February 2003
Well I seem to have finished off the drivers side completly ready for a respray, ive been going over most of the car looking for anything that looks like it needs some attention. A lot of underseal covering some previous welds really was crap so I scraped all that off and wire brushed it, then re-applied some fresh underseal. Also decided to repaint my bumpers my self instead of getting them shot blasted. I thought the job I made of my chrome mirror and windscreen wiper arms was good enough so im going to paint up the bumpers too. The back bumper has been paint stripped, sanded and is now back in primer. Im letting the paint go hard before I sand it back with some wet and dry paper. Also I made a purchase of some polished RS 4 spoke alloys today with RS centre caps for £110. They have practically brand new good year tyres on as well, so im well chuffed with that purchase. Was going to cost me more to get my other alloys shot blasted and powder coated so a good deal allround. In getting these alloys though (50 mileish round trip), my bloody 4 doors car battery has gone completly flat, batterys only couple of months old as well. Something tells me the alternator needs checking up. Ill have a look tomorrow if I can get a chance :). If you wanna see some pictures of my bumpers progress and my new wheels, go here

Well as usual I did not get everything done that I wanted to. One of me previous bodge jobs went tits up after I realised I had applied the bodge onto a rubish surface and it all peeled back off. So have had to start that again =(. Was only working on the drivers side of the car today as well as I cold not get to the passenger side. Probably a good thing because I was bored so started proding some dodgy looking areas on the chassis with my screwdriver. It wasnot rotten but there was some surface rust under some very badly applied underseal. So I scraped all of that back to good metal, kurusted it and re-applied a liberal helping of underseal. There is one other thing bothering me with this car at the moment, that is there is a run of very dodgily applied bodge to the bottom of the car from the sill to about 2 inches up the door. I thought it was some anti rusting thing at first but it seems to be bodge. Im in two minds whether to take it all off or not as it may be conceiling some pretty crappy welding underneath. I have taken some of it off and it sands back to good metal, so im not sure why its there. Think ill leave it to whoever preps the car for painting to sort out =).

News: 14th February 2003
Not much happening on the old esky today, just going round the car double checking stuff before I ring up to arrange a respray. I did double up the clamps on the exhaust in an attempt to stop it blowing. Although not 100% succesful it is a lot better than what it was, its the way its designed thats making it blow, pretty stupid really. I found a very small area of surface rust on the back of the car which required a bit of filler in it to smooth it back out, but thats about it really. Ill try and finish off my odd jobs on sunday and will see where I can go from there. On another note I have decided to add a couple of pictures of my white 4 door with most of its good bits nicked off it, check em out here

News: 12th February 2003
Well, I have not done any work to the car yet this week, havent got any spair time until friday, thats when ill fix the exhaust, but I did go to my first sporting escort owners club meeting last night. Apart from getting water in my distributor cap and the 4 door missfiring like no ones business, it turned out to be a good night, people were friendly and helpful. I have also taken a couple of pictures of some of the various escort parts cluttering up my house, so you can have a look at them in the car section.

News: 9th February 2003
Checked over the exhaust on the brown escort today to discover it is blowing at the joins in the pipes, I thought it was sounding a bit crap. Im going to double up the amount of exhaust clamps on each join in an attempt to make the pipe close in on its self and tighten up to form a gapless join, hopefully this will stop the blowing. Also got my dads help in tightening up the handbrake cable on my white escort as I was not sure how you tightened it up. I have added some more pictures today as well in the car section, so go and have a look =)

News: 6th February 2003
Not much happening, just adjusted tappets today on my white 4 door and they seem to sound exactly the same, hmm. Had a bit of a disaster though, as I was cranking the engine over by pushing it back and forth with the gear in reverse it slowly edged its way out of the garage and down a slope, needless to say, the car nealry ran over my feet when I tried to push it back into the garage and realised it was too heavy for me to handle, to top it off, the door got jammed in between the garage door and the wall, great, no damage done though :).

News: 5th February 2003
Well as works ground to a halt on my 2 door escort, ive been busy fixing up my 4 door escort. I finally got round to replacing my thermostat, its been out for 4 months or so :). thing that gets me is why does the bloody thing always leek first time you put it back together? I need to do another couple of odd jobs, such as the tappets and tighten the handbrake cable, but other than that, its running spot on, which is suprising as I dont keep it in the garagae anymore and its subjected to all the snow and stuff.
Im going to the Sporting Escort Owners Club Meeting this monday coming to see what the escort scene is like round here, and also to check out potential resprayers for my escort, fingers crossed, ill get a good job cheaper =).

News: 3rd February 2003
Got ashely 4 branch exhaust manifold refitted to escort, so it is definatly ready for a respray now, just need to wait a week or so until I see a potential resprayers previous work before I get anything done

News: 1st February 2003
Well I know I promised to keep this website updated but I really could not find the time to update it. I think I shall start work back on this page once the car has been resprayed, which should not be too long now as its prepared for a respray, just needs to be booked in somewhere. Come on signal amber, gotta look better than brown :).

News: 9th October 2002
Some more stuff has been going on with the escort. My dad fixed up some of the wholes on the car at the weekend and I have been removing some rust from the boot area, still a mess, but its coming along. Some pics to follow shortly.

News: 3rd October 2002
Hi and welcome to my webpage about my ford escorts :), ill be mainly concentrating this site on my 2 door 1300L wich I am currently attempting to turn into a mexico look-a-like. Bit off putting when its starting colour is brown, but the vision shall remain to make a signal amber mexico look-a-like. Keep checking back here for what I hope will be regular updates  with pictures. Check out what ive done so far in the "My car" section and see what im  planning to do in "The Plan" section. Thanks.
