Dating
back to 1870, Cedar Point is the second oldest amusement park in North
America. It first started off as a bathing beach with small attractions
and gradually turned into "America's Roller Coast" with
exciting rides for everyone whether your three years old or over the
age of 60. Today over three million people from around the world visit
each year where they seek thrills on the fifteen coasters (starting
in May 2002 with the new Wicked Twister)and sixty eight total rides
in the entire park. |
| In
recent times Cedar Point has set world records for their roller coasters
and thrill rides. Their most recent will be in 2002 when they will
break their own record with 15 total coasters in one park. Right now
Cedar Point holds 10 world records with only one roller coaster, the
Millenium Force. Some of these records include: tallest/fastest coaster,
longest drop, and first to top 300 feet.On average there is a new
coaster or thrill ride every two years and will seemingly continue
with all the interest in what is known as America's Roller Coast,
which is stated each time before your ride will take off from the
station on every ride. To the right is a picture of the Power Tower
at night. This thrill ride has been around since 1998 and has become
part of Cedar Point's horizon. |
