Some early photos

Del Collin.
Del retired in 1996 after a dual career of 38 years (RCMP and then Ambulance Management). Del and his wife, Colette, enjoy their semi-rural home and the wildlife in Thetis Heights. Whoever said, "You will have lots of time to do the things you enjoy when you retire", probably never retired! Its a struggle to get all those things in but I give it a good try. Right now a lot of time is taken up by: tennis (naturally), woodworking, gardening, two motorcycle clubs (the very sedate ones), a little golf when it can be worked in and last but not least enjoying family time.
Del has recently relocated to Comox BC. We all wish him and his wife well.

Doug Brewis.

Earl Chochinov.

Frank McGilly.

Fred Henry.
Retired from General Motors Manufacturing Engineering in 1986 after 30 years service. With retirement came the freedom to live wherever we chose and so Vera and I moved to Victoria in 1989. Interestingly enough although the environment is quite different I find I am just about as busy as I was when I was working. The difference of course is that now I am busy with music, tennis, golf and other activities that I enjoy.

George Baker.
Retired Provincial Protocol Officer. When not enjoying tennis and cycling finds time for classical music DJ'ing at CFUV, tour guiding, delivering "Superhost" training programs, volunteer work and travel.

George McCullough.

Teruaki Glen Kono.
Born 1928, Powell River, BC
Glen has returned to the West Coast after being away for 63 years. "Why, you're like the salmon!" said Ingrid. In tennis, Glen has been restructuring his strokes for 7 years. He believes he has an alternate and a "better" way of stroke making unlike any avid player ...but will probably run out of time and legs to prove its validity.

Gord McMurchy
Lives for people, tennis and various arts and crafts.

I am presently a captain with the Coast Guard. I am looking forward to retiring in another few years and given the combined experience of the Racketeers, I will be seeking their tutelage in both retirement and tennis. .

John Shaw: " I'm really a professional tennis player........I think. Nobody has ever actually paid to watch me play, but I give exhibition matches........at least my friends tell me that every time I go out there I make an exhibition of myself."

Paul MacLean
Retired RCAF air traffic controller. Spent 4 years abroad with Canada's Foreign Service (2 yrs in Cost Rica, 2 yrs in Cairo, Egypt). Enjoy most sports and still love to travel. Took up tennis in Costa Rica and have been a 'Racketeer' ever since. NOTE: At the end of October 2000, Paul will be moving to Parksville. There wasn't room to place his 500 word farewells, but he did say something like he hoped the competition was tougher up there! The best from all of us Paul. The latest word is that Paul and his wife will be returning to Victoria soon. Presumably he misses the high standard of tennis here?

Roy Constable.
Having never accepted payment for my sports abilities, I consider myself a true amateur - with a particular passion for tennis and soccer. Ice hockey, cycling and lawn bowling are part of my lifestyle also, as are chess, stamp collecting and bareboat sailing. Music that drives me is Hank Williams and Alabama. Lamb is my meal of choice and favorite wine is Pinot Noir. Cheers!!

Tony
(Antonio Dal Lago)

Val Hinch.
Teacher, pilot, Air Force in the war
Oarsman, builder and so much more

Walter Albert.
I retired six years ago
And joined some oldies 'a-gogo'
Most were older than I kiddo
Playing tennis with libido

I found their game a little slow
Some balls too high, others too low
I roamed the court like a 'taureau'
But now with age and lumbago
I find wisdom in playing slow
If I get to eighty or so
I wish I'll play with libido

West Graydon
Career spent working in various aspects of the construction industry. Norma and I retired in 1996 in Vancouver and moved to Mexico where I improved my racketeering skills for 6 years. Returned to the frozen north two years ago having decided that Victoria was the proper climate for year around tennis.

Wilf Dobbin.
(Dobby to all of us)

Flubbed forehand, bad backhand,
vacant volley, long lob
It's all a 'Love' game!
