Over the Edge is strikingly courageous, and has no fear of anything-- be it a starting gate, a lawnmower in the next pasture, or another horse charging him in an impromptu fight. When running, the spirit tends to take over and he can soar! Lucky for us, this bold colt's common sense sticks around just enough to give him a winning record on the track.
This one explodes from the start like his tail is on fire!
Has a nice, smooth running gait.
This colt seems to really move when you ask.
Nice colt- has some stamina to spare. Should go the distance for you.
Nice and dependable, always seems to run in top form.
I'd say this colt would show noticeable improvement at steeplechasing.
A closer. Moves late. Expect some hairy finishes at the track.
Runs alertly with the others during practice. Seems to be a good sign.

At 2, 2000:
A cheap $10,000 purchase as a two-year-old, we adored this colt's name the moment we saw him in the sales catalog, and fell in love when we laid eyes upon him for the first time. Over the Edge debuted at Hollywood Park on June 12, running all over the track but still managing to win in a late rush on the far turn. He was then shipped to Saratoga for the Saratoga Futurity (gr. III), where he finished second after running in ninth at the top of the stretch. Over the Edge captured his first stakes victory on July 17 in Del Mar's Spruce Stakes (gr. II), where he remained close to the pace and pounced late for the win. Thus began a streak of top runs for the colt, as he snatched a win in Saratoga's Ellington Stakes (gr. III), narrowly missed the Vanderbilt Stakes (gr. I), then captured the Fall Futurity Interdominion (gr. III). He also began a rivalry with the stunning gray colt DUNE; they traded victories back and forth through the fall. Over the Edge finished his regular season with a pair of grade I wins in the Woodbine Juvenile Stakes (gr. I) and the Legacy Stakes (gr. I) before going to the championships. He captured the first round in a fabulous duel with Dune and was third in the next, but stumbled in the last round and finished seventh. Dune was named champion juvenile colt, but Over the Edge redeemed himself with a wire-to-wire victory in the Dubai Juvenile Prince Cup (gr. I) only three weeks later.
At 3, 2001:
Distance was a very real concern for Edge entering 2001. He debuted in a seven-furlong stakes race at Hollywood against older horses; the Hialeah Stakes (gr. III), which saw him finish second to older champion DANGEROUS INTERLOPER. He then won Gulstream's Shallow Grove Stakes (gr. III), as well as the Loster Cup (gr. II) at that same track at a mile. Another victory in Santa Anita's Key West Derby (gr. I) at 1 1/8 miles was reassuring, but we remained concerned about his ability to get the longer distances. The final start for Over the Edge before the Triple Crown was the Oaklawn Stakes (gr. I), where he finished second by a nose, just nipped by filly champ LUCK O THE DRAW after a long and grinding stretch duel. On May 7, Over the Edge became the first Coldwater Creek runner to capture a classic as he won the Kentucky Derby (gr. I), then finished second to DUNE in the Preakness (gr. I) and second to Sweetwater Dancing's WILD DIAMONDS in the Belmont (gr. I). What a fabulous run! After some brief time off, Edge snagged the Arlington Derby (gr. I) in his final start against 3-year-old competition. He was close to unstoppable among his own crop, but the graduation to running against older horses proved a bit of a challenge. He was third behind 2000 Triple Crown winner ALLEY CAT in the Beachcomber Handicap (gr. II) at Saratoga, third in the Central Park Handicap (gr. II), and second in the Mercury Stakes (gr. I) at Woodbine. Send to Dubai for the World Cup before the championships, Edge was third in an incredible blanket finish, hitting the wire in tandem with Dune and Wild Diamonds in one of the best races of the year. In the championships, Over the Edge faced much the same crowd and won the first and last legs with a second-place sandwiched in the middle. It was an incredible return to form and a crowning of the first-ever champion for Coldwater Creek!
At 4, 2002:
OVER THE EDGE started out the year with a victory in Hialeah's grade III Hialeah Stakes at seven furlongs, then finished second in the grade II Pole Position Stakes at Gulfstream Park. This handsome colt scored his first grade I stakes win of the year two weeks later in the grade I Gulf Stakes at 1 1/16 miles, and was second to DANGEROUS INTERLOPER on March 11 in the grade I Cutler Ridge Handicap. After a month of R & R, Edge came back to a strong second in the grade I Oaklawn Park Gold Cup followed by a dazzling win in Australia's grade I Cox Plate. On May 27th, he finished a good second in the grade II Bluegrass Handicap at Churchill Downs, followed by another runner-up effort in the grade I Impresario Handicap and a win in Arlington Park's grade II Machinehead Stakes. He finished the year with a third place in Belmont's grade II New York Marathon Handicap at 1 1/2 miles, a win over FIGHT THE DEVIL in the grade I West Coast Handicap, and a place to Dangerous in the grade I Woodbine Classic. The championships saw him finish with a place and two shows in the Championships Open Endurance.
