Casting Couch
2003 Broodmare of the Year

Roan mare 1992
by Battle Front - Central Casting, by Spend a Buck

  • Foaled February 1, 1992.
  • Bred by Doubletree Farm. Owned by Coldwater Creek Farm.
  • Received from Cricket Hill in January 2006.

    DETAILS

Casting Couch was named Broodmare of the Year in 2003 by virtue of the outstanding success of her first three foals -- Triple Crown champion FIGHT THE DEVIL and grade I stakes winners LEADING MAN and HONORABLE INTENTIONS. This beautiful mare has a patient and easygoing disposition. She won't tolerate being bullied by her pasturemates, but gets along famously with the other mares so long as she has respect.

Casting Couch was a gift from Cricket Hill in early 2006, arriving with a By the Sword filly at her side and also with her Dune yearling filly. By the time she arrived at Coldwater Creek, her hot streak of producing stakes winners had cooled, but CCF was lucky enough to campaign her Wild Guess filly Wild Quest, who was stakes-placed for us before being sold to Rancho Conquista. Casting Couch's Dune filly, Absolutely, is currently racing for Oak Lane, and her By the Sword filly CHEMISTRY has become a grade III stakes winner for us at two. She produced her final foal, a Cast Adrift colt named Stargate, in spring 2007. Casting Couch is now pensioned and enjoying a relaxed retirement.
