Following His Fathers Foot- steps
                       Wayne Wormell # 23

Wayne Wormell has been around racing for as long as he can remember. His father, Laurie Wormell, was a sportsman driver, which some may remember. When the younger Wormell turned sixteen he began his driving career, not in a four cylinder but right into the powerful Sportsman class because that is what his Dad drove.
Wormell drives the number 23 Monte Carlo out of Miramichi,NB, and his home track is Miramichi City Speedway. At the begining of his racing career he used the number seventeen. Wormell left racing for fourteen years and only returned when the first Sportsman tour began in 2000. The number he liked was gone so Wormell picked the number 23. "Best looking number left" Wormell laughed. Even with all that time off,  Wormell came back and took points championship at Miramichi City Speedway in 2002.
When Wormell was asked what his plans for the future are, Wormell said"No plans to move up, this class is affordable and competitive. I would have liked to come in first in the tour this year but now I would like to be in the top five. Wormell went on to say  Last fall I won the one hundred lap race at Riverside Speedway in Antigonish,NS. That was great.
When asked if he had any real serious accidents, Wormell said, Rolled over seven times at Riverglade eighteen years ago. I never got hurt but bruised up badly and we wrote the car off.
Like all racers Wormell is very pleased and proud of his sponsor, Giberson Transport and HWY 11 Truck and Trailer who provide him with much of what he needs.
Wormells favorite driver was Dale Earnhart,Sr. now its Dale Jr. Perhaps its like father, like son .
