| Lonnie Sommerville is first Canadian entry for DNK Select 250 at Unity Raceway Unity, Maine Lonnie Sommerville of Saint John, New Brunswick filed the first of what he expects will be several entries from the Canadian Maritimes for the $25,000-to-win DNK Select 250, scheduled for Sunday, June 13 at Unity Raceway in Unity, Maine. Sommerville, driving for car owner Larry Sommerville, will tackle the Pro All Stars Series regulars, Unity regulars and a host of invaders in the $150,000-plus Pro Stock race with sponsorship help from Sommerville Flooring of Saint John, NB; Dougs Recreation Center of Sussex, NB; Moern Electric of Fredericton, NB; Scott Fraser Racing of Schubenacadie, NS; Bacardi rum and Molson Canadian beer. On his most recent trip to Maine last July, Sommerville became the first New Brunswick driver ever to make the starting grid in the 30-year history of the Oxford 250. He raced to a 12th-place finish, best among all Canadian entries in the 2003 edition of that Maine classic. Sommerville expects several of his fellow Pro Stock racers from the Canadian Maritimes to head west along with his team for the DNK Select 250. He joins an impressive list of over thirty early entries, including Cherryfield, Maine native Andy Santerre, the Aubuchon Hardware-sponsored driver and two-time and defending NASCAR Busch North Series champion. Also entered are two-time and defending Pro All Stars Series Champion Ben Rowe, former PASS Champion and 2003 DNK Big Dawg Challenge winner Sudn Sam Sessions, reigning Oxford Plains Speedway champion Ricky Rolfe, and former NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series National Champion Ted Christopher. Scott Chubbuck, a five-time track champion in the Wiscasset Raceway Pro Stock division and no stranger to victory lane at Unity, is another strong contender, as is last years Pro All Stars Series runner-up, Johnny Clark, who lost by inches in PASS competition at Unity last season. |
