Purse boosted for DNK New England Super Street Championship

Unity, ME � Northern Race Tires has joined the growing list of supporters for the 3rd Annual DNK New England Super Street Championship, scheduled for Sunday, October 2 at Unity Raceway in Unity, Maine. The 100-lap feature race for the top Street Stock and Super Street division racers from throughout the Northeast now offers the winner a possible $6500 payday. The event will pay a minimum of $6000.-to-win.
      �Northern Race Tires has added over $1100 in contingency awards for the DNK New England Super Street Challenge for drivers who race on tires they buy at their tire truck at the track,� promoter John Crawford said. �There will be a bonus paid to anyone in the top five who buy tires at the track that weekend.�
     Crawford points out that there will be three brands of Street Stock tires available, from American racer, Hoosier and Goodyear, and that teams will be permitted to bring their own tires and choose not to run for the bonus money.
      Last year�s DNK New England Super Street Championship race attracted over seventy of the best steel-bodied racers from throughout New England, and this year�s interest is even higher, with one entrant from Virginia already registered.
      �About the only things we�ll do differently this year will be adding a minimum weight rule, and probably reduce the starting field a little,� Crawford said. �We haven�t had too much resistance on the weight, as most of the cars that raced with us last year were pretty close to the new rule. We probably did start too many cars last year with 39, and hopefully by starting a few less we�ll have a few less yellow flags early in the race.�
