| PASS Champion Ben Rowe enters DNK Select 250 at Unity Raceway Unity, Maine - Two-time and defending Pro All Stars Series Champion Ben Rowe of Turner, Maine hopes to continue his dominance of the regional Pro Stock racing scene with a victory in what promises to be the biggest event for the division anywhere on the 2004 racing calendar, the DNK Select 250 on Sunday, June 13 at Unity Raceway. Rowes entry brings the total to thirty early hopefuls aiming for the $25,000 top prize. Rowe joined his legendary father Mike - still a threat every time out as his two PASS race triumphs during the 2003 campaign will attest - as a winner of the annual Oxford 250 classic last season. After disappointment and a rare DNF in last Octobers DNK Big Dawg Challenge, car owner Tom Estes and the rest of the Hi-Tech Motorsports / Mechanical Services / Superior Image team will be aiming for success in their next chance at a big Pro Stock payday at Unity. Rowe was the winner in what was probably the closest finish ever for the top position in Pro All Stars Series competition last June at Unity Raceways DNK 150. Johnny Clark of Farmingdale, Maine came up .024-second short of posting his first series win in a wild run to the checkered that found both drivers needing a tow from the sand barrier in turn one, mixing it up right to the line and beyond to the delight of the appreciative crowd. Clark, runner-up to Rowe in the 2003 PASS Championship contest, has also entered the DNK Select 250, and hopes to turn the tables as the series makes its lone visit to the historic third-mile asphalt oval. Rowe adds his talents to an impressive list of early entrants for the June 13 race, joining reigning NASCAR Busch North Series Champion Andy Santerre, current Oxford Plains Speedway kingpin Ricky Rolfe and 2003 Big Dawg Challenge winner Sudn Sam Sessions, another former Pro All Stars Series Champion. Weekly Pro Stock competitors from every track in Maine have already filed entries for the DNK Select 250, including several former Pro Stock track champions like Scott Chubbuck, Duane Seekins and John Phippen, Jr. Unity Raceways DNK Select 250 guarantees a $25,000 payday to the winner, with the one-day payoff for the Pro Stock feature qualifiers exceeding $150,000. All 33 teams starting the event will be guaranteed at least $2000. Drivers deemed to have made every effort to qualify for the race will receive$300. |
