| Mike Rowe inks DNK Select 250 at Unity entry Unity, Maine Mike Rowe, of Turner, one of the most successful drivers in Maine racing history, is the latest entry to the DNK Select 250 Pro All Stars Series event, scheduled for Sunday, June 13 at Unity Raceway in Unity, Maine. Rowes entry is the 40th for the $25,000-to-win classic, and the richest race in Maine this year. Rowe, father and full-time employer of reigning PASS champion Ben Rowe, is tops on the all-time feature race winners list at Oxford Plains Speedway, where he is a seven-time track champion in the top class. Hes won over 100 features in the premiere division at OPS, and close to 150 overall at that western Maine track. Rowe has also won touring series championships with ACT and NEPSA, and a pair of Oxford 250 titles. Rowe won his ACT title during the highly-competitive Pro Stock era of the Vermont-based racing series. He has been a winner on the dirt at Beech Ridge, and has several NASCAR Busch North Series wins to his credit, as well. Last season Rowe started the season off with his own Dale Shaw-chassised car and posted an early-season win at Canaan Fair Speedway. He later moved to Carleton Robies team for a few weeks, returning to his own mount for the PASS points finale at Thompson, where he scored an impressive 200-lap victory. Rowe recently added another car to his stable, a car driven on the PASS circuit last season by Dale Shaw, who finished third in the PASS standing with a Dodge body on the car. Rowe had Shaw re-skin the car with the controversial downforce Monte Carlo body, and he looks forward to experimenting with that machine. Other early entries include Cherryfield, Maine native Andy Santerre, the Aubuchon Hardware-sponsored driver seeking his third straight NASCAR Busch North Series championship during the 2004 campaign, and Ben Rowe, the two-time and defending Pro All Stars Series champion, and the winner of the 150-lap PASS race at Unity Raceway last season. Maine racing legends Racin Ralph Nason of Unity and Stan Meserve, now of Mooresville, North Carolina, will also be in competition. Former NASCAR National Champion Ted Christopher of Plainville, Connecticut is entered in the DNK Select 250, as are regional Pro Stock stars like 2003 Big Dawg Challenge winner Sudn Sam Sessions, Scott Mulkern, Scott Chubbuck, Chuck Lachance, Billy Penfold, Johnny Clark, Ricky Rolfe, Duane Seekins, Gary Smith, Andy Shaw, Billy Rodgers, Billy Whorff, Lonnie Sommerville, Dean Fuller, Jeff Burgess and Big John Phippen. |
