Center For Speed Presents 2003 Awards

Tuesday night brought down the curtain on the 2003 racing season at Centre for Speed in Shediac, NB. With Cheers Eatery as the backdrop, an excellent meal was served and a host of award trophies were presented.

Championship trophies were presented to Tim Streight in Thundercats, Kerry Anderson in Tigercats, Luc Bourgeois in Street Stocks, Lee Streight in Limited Sportsman and Laurie Cormier in Super Sportsman.

Mark McNutt, of Springhill, finished 12th in Tigercats and was applauded for his comradery and effort. It was also noted that he can build a car in less time than anyone after starting construction on Friday night and racing with it Saturday afternoon. He was also applauded for his performance in the Atlantic championships last October when he took an underpowered 6 cylindar and competed competitively against the more powerful 8 cylindars in the feature event.

The night however belonged to Springhill's Sandy Livingston Jr as he picked up the 8th place trophy in Super Sportsman and was named most popular driver at the track. Then Sandy was presented with the Racing Spectator's "Driver of the Year" award. This award was earned based on voting by fans from all over the Maritimes through the Racing Spectator web site. In all Livingston Jr garnered 48% of 1300 votes to claim this title.
