Ra was an alien on the verge of death. He left his planet in search of a way to avoid his death. He came to primitive Earth and possessed a boy. He then made himself their God, using the humans for labor. He took them to another planet called Abydos through the Stargate. A stargate is a stone archway, which establishes a wormhole between two given points, resulting in intergalactic travel. Unfortunately a revolt was held on Earth, which caused the Stargate to be buried and forgotten until many thousands of years later. While a team of earth-bound explorers arrived on Abydos via the recently uncovered Stargate, Ra returned to Abydos from wherever he was. Inconveniently Ra landed on the pyramid, which sheltered the Abydos Stargate. After two members of the Earth team returned to the Stargate they were captured by Ra. O�Neill was thrown into a watery pit after obtaining a guards weapon, where he located the missing members of his team. Jackson, however, was shot and killed. When Jackson later reawakened he found out from Ra that humans could be brought back to life by a sarcophagus, which helps Ra stay young and immortal. Ra also tells Jackson that he will send a bomb through the stargate which will have a mineral that�ll cause the overall destruction of the bomb to be one hundred times more powerful than it would be originally. Ra also tells him the he, Jackson, will prove that Ra is indeed a God by killing the rest of his team members at a public execution. Jackson, however, shoots towards Ra instead of at his team. Luckily Ra escapes unharmed and is furious that his guards let the prisoners escape. Ra waits impatiently for the caravan of mineral to come so that he may destroy the Earth. Unbeknownst to him is that Jackson and O�Neill are with the caravan and plan to stop the bomb from going through the stargate. But one of Ra�s guards activates the bomb before it goes through and has rigged it so it cannot be stopped. With but a few seconds left Jackson and O�Neill send the bomb up to Ra�s quickly departing ship. Sadly our beloved Ra is destroyed. |
