Currently listening to:
Five Foot Four by Francis Kim
I can bring your six foot three
Back down to me at five foot four
Look down to some, look up to more
But how different are our points of view
Mine and yours
When I got a view of your heart

Words of wisdom from none other than the legendary Prince himself.

Music lovers vs. music consumers. There is a difference, and the music industry appeals to the one who brings forth the greatest sales. Thats what any smart business would do, right? Its all about the dollars.

But its sad when you take someones passion for music, their love for creativity and expression, and exploit it to feed the masses. You take everything that artist has worked so hard to create and craft as their own, and steal it away from them the instant you attempt to convert it into something more mainstream.

And then you have some artists who are out there only for the greens, without a clue of what their music is about. It just becomes a "product" you stick a fancy little record label on and pray to the music deities that it hits No. 1 on the charts. I think its a sad phenomenon when that happens. Where`s the creativity and integrity in that? Geez, look at me talking about integrity in music when integrity itself is just hard to find these days.

Well, at least this artist has maintained his sense of integrity. I have a lot of respect and admiration for him.
