Currently pondering over:
This quote from My Year of Meats by Ruth L. Ozeki:
"This is trouble with you. You think you want, you don't think you want--always back and forth. Me, when I want, it is with whole heart. I look at wanted thing with eyes straight on. But you! Neither here or there. Your looking always crooked, from side of eye. It has no power to hold. So wanted thing, it slip away from you."
-Takagi's Japanese mother after Takagi tells her she's not sure she wants to get married

2:01am
In a moment, I'll finally be off to bed. What may seem like a lazy weekend to most people actually turned out to be rather productive.

  • Getting back into my running mode (and all 50lbs of my arse couldn't be happier for it). So far 2 miles a day, four days this week. Still haven't reached my goal distance or time, but I'm building myself up to it.
  • Immersed myself in some interesting novels. I didn't go to bed until 8:30am finishing My Year of Meats. A recommended read. Doesn't really pick up until Chapter 6 but hard to put down afterwards. I'll probably write up a more in-depth review on Amazon.com soon. Tangent: Add to list of things to accomplish before I die--write a novel.
  • Wrote and recorded a couple tunes. I went to Guitar Center and got a new mic! The guy who worked there gave me a great deal on it. The recording actually sounds half-way decent, but there's always room for improvement.
  • Met a guy at Guitar Center who plays in a local band. After talking to him for a bit, he offered me his demo cd and was thrilled when I told him I did some (amateur) music promotions in the local area. Listened to it on the drive home and it's good stuff. Will have to add to list of bands to try and book gigs for.
  • Caught up with friends who I've been terrible about keeping in touch with. And these are not just any friends, but my best friends. No good excuse so I can't weasel myself out of this one. Here--slap me a few times on my hand. Wait. What's that? You prefer to beat the living crap out of me? Come on. I thought we were best friends.
  • And finally, hung out with some of my favorite people (who I am also terrible at keeping in touch with). Even though these silly boys snuck into my apartment at 6am in the morning (granted I was still awake). Haven't seen my cousins in ages since they went off to college. My, oh my, how they grow so quickly.

It's 2:20am now. Time for bed. Rise and shine, bright and early for church tomorrow.

Hope all is well with you beautiful people out there.
