SORROW

-by Emily Sowers
My name is Sorrow
I live in a home
With five souls who ache for
a child who is gone

With the smile of an Angel
And the voice of a lark
She was to their lives
Like a star in the dark

Leukemia came
And with it came pain
I entered their house
And here I remain

They struggled to save her
With all of their might
As they quietly cried
When she said, “Night Night !”

She slipped from their lives
Like a fast setting sun
Her spirit flew up
A new journey begun
She let them go

My name is Sorrow
I won’t be here long
For love is much stronger
They still hear her song
They’ll let me go
They’ll let me go
