This meal is to be served in seven courses, by slaves, to our honored guests - who shall (health and comfort permitting) dine in the traditional manner upon cushions and with their fingers. Rosewater will be used in the hand-washing ritual between course. Entertainments are planned for our guests' delight during all courses, including poetry, song, storytelling, dancing, etc.

Hereinafter is a tentative menu for the Feast. The actual menu may vary, based upon guests' health and comfort requirements and upon the dark designs of the staff of the Caliph's Forbidden Kitchen.

1st Course: Fruits (grapes, dates, bananas, figs, etc.) and nuts (assorted)

2nd Course: Fattoush (Arabic salad)

3rd Course: Hummus, tabouleh, baba ghanoush/grilled eggplant, olives and pita bread

4th Course: Fatayer (pastry pockets stuffed with spinach or cheese)

5th Course: Vegetable shish-kebab

6th Course: Lemon chicken

7th Course: Tea, assorted baklava and other pastries, sherbet

Drinks will include your choice of water, punch, tea, or really strong sweet coffee. Raki (anisette liqueur) will be served separately.

B'stillah (chicken and grain cooked in a sweet pastry shell) and Moroccan salad are really a headache to prepare, so they're not on the menu. Rahadlakum (the Turkish "soother of the throat") will not be served, because your Host has tried this obnoxious candy and really doesn't like it, Howard Keel's "Kismet" notwithstanding. So there.

Entertainment is still in the planning stages, but we have the following general ideas:

1st Course: Act/Performer TBA

2nd Course: Storytelling (performer TBA; your Host will do this in a pinch)

3rd Course: Act/Performer TBA

4th Course: A Fiery Performance (by Alex Mora)

5th Course: A Serene Poem (performed by Ryan Oba)

6th Course: A Lovely Song (sung by Naomi Weiss)

7th Course: The Dance of the Seven Veils (performer TBA)

Volunteers are always welcome, of course!
