The research of Bradley Vance Butts lists this person as Margaret Keting. Every other source of information I have seen has called her Margaret Keeling. Including the research of Retha Louise Butts Flaherty, numerous obituaries provided by Bradley Vance Butts, the family tree of Butts, Button and Hershberger, War of 1812 pension request made by Margaret Keeling Butts, photograph of tombstone of James Keeling, father of Margaret etc...Unless other information becomes available, I'll call her Margaret Keeling.

Margaret Keeling was half Osage Indian. Per Bradley Vance Butts information and also stated by Loren Robert Butts when he was alive that one family member was Osage Indian.

Served in War of 1812 under Captain Joseph Neisbit, Ohio Regiment. Philip volunteered at Montgomery Co. Ohio according to pension document in 1814 for a term of 6 months. Service was terminated due to peace being declared . Physical description states that Philip was about 5 feet 8 inches tall, dark complexion, dark eyes and weight about 135 lbs. On this document Margaret Keeling Butts also states that she was married to Philip in Pyrmont, Montgomery Co. Ohio March 20th 1825 by Justice of the Peace Samual Kinny. Places of residence are Montgomery Co. Ohio for four years then moved to Van Buren Township Fountain Co. Indiana.

Family group sheets of Lewis Ray Butts also state that marriage date was March 20 1825, at Pyrmont, Montgomery County Ohio, Justice of the Peace, Samuel Kenny
Lists place of birth for Philip as Wyth (Wythe) Virginia
Other research including that of Debbie C Davis, states that Philip was born in Rockingham County Virginia, in the year 1792, her research agrees that the marriage date was March 20 1825
Research of Bradly Vance Butts calls Margaret Keeling "Margaret Keting", he has tombstone photo for James Keeling, father of Margaret Peggy Keeling.
