On the 1850 Wisconsin Census for Grant County, Smeltzen Grove...as Cuba City was called at that time, there is a Martin Kilbride and a Michael Kilbride. Michael also appears on the 1860 census for the area, with it now called Smelser Township, Cuba City, Grant Co Wisconsin. The time and georaphy are right to assume a relationship but I do not yet know what that relationship was. One of these men may have been Ellens father.
