It doesn't matter how good you are, or think you are. It doesn't matter that other people think you are a good person. The ONLY thing that matters is you are a sinner. God's word is very clear that no one can live up to His perfect standard. But there is hope!
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23
Since you can't meet God's perfect standard, He sent his son, Jesus, to die for your sins. Christ's sacrifice on Calvary allows those who put their trust and faith in Him to have eternal life. Confessing Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior is the only thing that will reconcile you with a perfect and holy God.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
You can not work your way into Heaven. If you could, you would really have something to brag about! But God makes it perfectly clear that salvation is a gift from Him, not by what you do while on this Earth.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
God loves you so much that he allowed His son to be mocked, beaten, and crucified so you could one day be in His presence.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shall be saved. For with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10
The plan for salvation is very simple:
The only way to be saved is through Jesus Christ. If you do not believe that, you will face God's judgment.
The god of this world hath blinded the minds of
them which believeth not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ,
who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
I Corinthians 4:4
