| this is a scene from director Spike Jonze's film Adaptation...it's just another little something that had a profoud effect on me and how I have learned to interpret many things I sometimes dont understand how to approach. One time I was watching it with a friend and a few minutes into the movie he said, "this movie means something doesn't it"....and that about sums it up perfectly. So, this is my favorite scene, it's fictional story advice that I use, proabably every day. Setting is in a swamp, Charlie Kaufman and his twin brother Donald are running from author Susan Orlean who had written The Orchid Thief...Charles is writing a screenplay on the book--he and Donald are hiding behind a mound of muck and clay while the author and her lover (who her book is about) are looking for them with full intent of killing them for accidentally intruding on a drug/sex affair--it's a good show if you've never seen it...I highly recommend a viewing or ten- | ||||
| "they're gonna find us" "I don't think so" "I don't want to die Donald. I've wasted my life. God I've wasted it." "You did not, and youre not gonna die" "I've wasted...I admire you Donald. I've spent my whole life paralyzed, worrying about what people think of me, and you, you're just oblivious" "I'm not oblivious" "No, you dont understand. I mean that as a compliment. There was this time in high school, I was watching you out the library window--you were talking to Sara Marshall" "God I was so in love with her" "I know, and, and you were flirting with her and she was being really sweet to you," "I remember that" "...and then, when you walked away, she started making fun of you with Kim Connetti. And, it was like they were laughing at me, but...you didn't know at all...you seemed so happy" "awh I knew, I heard them." "Well, but, you were so happy" "I loved Sara, Charles. It was mine, my love, I owned it. Sara didn't have the right to take it away. I can love whoever I want" "yea but, she thought you were pathetic" "Well, that was her business, not mine...you are what you love, not what loves you, that's what I decided a long time ago" |
