Prior to writing Race the Wind, a mainstream novel, Barbara Cameron wrote comtemporary romance novels for a number of publishers, including Harlequin, Silhouette, Dell Ecstacy, and Pioneer Communications (novelization of top daytime drama). Three of her stories were filmed by Karl/Lorimar for HBO/Cinemax and were broadcast nationally. Reviews of books and films has been excellent. Cameron has won Romance Writers of America awards, including the very first Golden Heart Award and a finalist award for her first published book, The Metal Mistress. An Affair to Remember was ranked number two on the Waldenbooks Romance Bestseller List. Affair was also named to Melinda Helfer's Recommended Reading List in How to Become a Romantic Writer published by Kathryn Falk of Romance Times Magazine. Romantic Times called "The Garnet Princess" their favorite of the stories filmed for the Colors of Love romance series on HBO/Cinemax.

Ms. Cameron is a college English instructor and creative writing teacher. She has been a newspaper reporter and public relations consultant in additon to her writing work.
