The goal of the Red Bull Driver Search is to find, train, and groom the first American Formula 1 driver.  To do this, Red Bull, with excessive help from famed Danny Sulivan, set up a series of local, regional, and national competitions to find karters who may not have the money or connections to be able to make it all the way.  They want to find the "diamond in the rough".
Competition proved REALLY tough at the regionals in the infield of Lowe's Motor Speedway.  Big name karters like Alex Speed, Travis Firing, John Johnson, and more, showed up to try and claim their shot at F1.  After a gueling day of lap after lap (totaling about 110 laps) and a few first turn pile ups, Mary found herself holding the 13th position out of 23.  Not a bad finish for someone with only 4 other out-door kart races!
First turn pile ups like  this one
20 brand new CRG chasis lined up in the NASCAR garage waiting to be driven!
Lining up for the last race.  It's all or nothing!
Special thanks to Danny Sulivan.  He did a fabulous job making sure that everything ran smoothly and efficiently even  with the changing weather.  Not only can he race, but he actually managed to keep 20 teenagers in line and on task.  Amazing!
Everyone lined up for the last pictures of the day.  Considering nearly no one is smiling, it is obvious that everyone wanted to make it all the way.
