Bristol
The Xcom Nextel Cars took to the high banks Sunday night! No not Daytona, No not Tally, It was Bristol!

The first race of a short four race series being run to determin the field for the Xcom Xtreme Series, as well as give league members an opertunity to hone there skills around the drivers they will be competing with in the 2004 season.
The league Addmin. have been working day and night to develope the most prestigious online racing community. They have fallen no shorter then perfect.
The Winter series will be a testing ground for the 4 series that Xcom will run, as well as the Kids Kup, and The Powder Puff races for the wives or girl freinds of the Xcom members.

The drivers took to the track for practice following the drivers meeting, and it wasn't long before the picture began to get painted on how the race would unfold.
Many drivers had picked up speed from the open practice, and teams had formed. 18 cars had entered the event. Qualifying was on time and DJ_Outback set a blistering 15.748 to start on the pole.Rocket was a close 15.837, just ahead of Dale Sr.
The race started smooth the drivers began to settle in for the 250 lap show down.

7 laps in and trouble 3 seperate spins on different ends of the track, Racenut got a tap in the rear and he made contact with the inside wall shortening his Stihl sponcered Chevy but did not bring out a caution. On the other end of the track the race for the  lead got to tight when Rocket made contact with DJ Outback  which sent Rocket up into the wall and then back down into Bronco. Hogfan and Plug also had some trouble that lap, and both ended up a lap down.
The green would fall on lap 12. The 66 car of Wolfblah lost 4th gear coming back up to speed dropping him back through the field after he was running 5th.
Six laps later again up front there is trouble DJ spins bringing out caution 2 allowing Rocket back up front to pace the field. Bronco moved up to second, Dale Sr. would follow to 3rd, with 357, and summitman, in the top 5. DJ Outback would restart in 9th behind Racenut who had damedge from that lap 7 incedent with the wall. DJ would go around Nut on the back stretch just as Summitman looses the back of his car while racing door to door with JJ Stevens. The 63 car couldnt check up fast enough and was collected along with JWest and Iceman. Rocket held the lead with Bronco and Dale Sr.following.
There would be several more yellows up to half way  During which Racnrob would fall once more to connection problems, he would end up some 70 laps back after he was able to return to the track. Bronco  would swap the lead with Rocket. Both had a great car.
Dale Sr. after being up front, found him self in a spin cycle on lap 54 after Plug lost grip sliding up into the wall then glancing back down into the path of Dale. Both cars would gather it back up and continue.
DJ was steadley making his way back up and was in fourth with 357 Magnum in 5th. The leaders would pit on lap 76 during caution for gas tires and some adjustments.
The laps clicked away as the field dwindled, Nasty on lap 54 sustained damedge during a wreck as would Summit on lap 77. Qdog pulled in off the track on lap 89. Parking it for the remainder of the race.
Plug Nichols whom had a fast car was able to get back on the lead lap after that early incedent with Hogfan. However his team did not comunicate with Plug that he had to make a stop and go on pit lane to clear a black flag for passing the pace car. NASCAR disqualified Plug after he did not comply to the flag. He would end up reciving 14th place.
Peace maker retired after being involved in a lap 134 incedent putting him out of contention.
Racnrob would finish the race in 12th 74 laps behind the leader. Leaving him wondering what or where the trouble was coming from. Racenut ended up blowing up on lap 191 placing him in 11th. "Yea we broke a camshaft, think I over reved the motor to many times while I was spinning".
The top 10 would finish the race with Iceman 14 laps down in 10th behind a wounded 66 car. Wolf had this to say after the race.."I lost 4th gear early and never thought it would last".
JJ Stevens wound up 8th 8 laps down and was never in contention to lead a lap but felt good about the run. DJ Outback would end up in 7th after having his share of trouble. He fought his way back up front and was able to lead a total of 57 laps. He would finish 6 laps down however.
Hogfan made a great showing! He was involved in a few incedents but was able to continue and he would recive 6th place points.
Dale Sr. was able to get a top 5, which will give him some much needed points to get into the XcomXtreme series. 4th place goes to the 29 car of Jwest. He was able to stay out of harms way and was a contender for much of the race.
A late caution would set up a dash for the cash. Bronco in first Rocket second and 357 Magnum 3rd. With only 3 cars on the lead lap and only 5 or so laps of green 'till the checkerd 357 ducked into pit lane for 4 new shoes for his race car. He would restart 3rd inline. As the green fell he was able to run up on Rocket and dive down to pass for second. Looking ahead at the 33 car he was closing in. With just 1 lap to go Magnum made his move, with the new rubber he was able to hold it low and go around for the win!

The race had a total of 15 cautions for 75 laps.
There were 4 leaders swapping the lead 8 times. Bronco led most laps with a total of 141, but it was 357 Magnum leading just 5 laps, but taking home the inugeral win from Bristol!

Xcom CTS Series

Xcom Racing brings you to Bristol for the running of the Xcom Craftsman truck 200!
This series has been growing since its debut and it promissis to be one of the top series in the league. The trucks have a forgivness that lends its self to great side by side action. Keep your eye on the Trucks as the series runs its coarse in a 4 race series to determin the field for the Xcom Xtreme season.

As the editor of this Review I will admit that I am partial to the trucks. I have enjoyed running them from as far back as the Heat days, and 2004 is no exeption.

The Trucks came to Bristol along with the Cup cars and the on track action was great for fans and drivers alike. XCR TV broadcast the event in its intirety and the ratings were over the top! Xcom is proud to have XCR  aboard for the 2004 season.

Most drivers from the Cup division joined in for the Truck race and some new names as well!
14 drivers entered for the first Xcom CTS race with Nick Bauerly starting on the pole. Dale Sr. would join him on the front row.
Duke started the race 3rd but planed to park early. DJOutback qualified 4th with a 16.532 showing just how fast the top speeds were.On the 3rd row on the inside is Racenut, he had some trouble on his second lap of qualifing and had to bring out his back up truck for the race. PeaceMaker lined up out side, just ahead of the 357 car, Magnum. He is coming off the win at Bristol in the "Xcom Nextel Cup Series", and feels good about his chances today.
Summitman lines up on the inside of the 4th row, with  Lightning on the outside starting 9th. Iceman came in next after his qualifing run. His time would be just fast enough to get him a top 10 starting position.
Racnrob was having connection problems all week and was determind to fix the trouble. He qualified 11th. The 92 truck of Nasty started outside row 6. On the last row on the inside is Plug Nichols. There has been some talk around the garage of a team forming around Plug. No official word as of yet but we will keep a watch on the events that unfold.
Wolfblah brings up the rear of the field in 14th. His team had very little time working on the CTS short track R & D. but plans on spending more time for the 2004 season.

The command to fire the engins was anounced and the field began to roll out for the Xcom NASCAR CTS 200!

The green fell and the race was under way.
Lightning was the first off the pace and would park his Xcom Dodge on lap 44. Duke would park on lap 92 as he was unable to finish.
After the race I talked with Lightning and he addmited that he did not like Bristol! There were 14 cautions slowing the field for a total of 67 laps. 2 cars finished on the lead lap and 11 Trucks were running in the end.
Racnrob fell short again with connection trouble. He is working to figure out the trouble, and hopes to be stable for this weeks IROC race.
Wolfblah had his share of trouble through out the race and he would finish 8 laps behind the leaders in 11th place. Plug Nichols also had a time at the bull ring and would finish 7 laps down in 10th. Iceman was running at the end also. He took a top 10 6 laps down in 9th.
Racenut finished 4 laps down in 8th position, after he lost connection for 1 lap sending him laps down. 7th place would go to Summitman, he had a great truck and kept out of trouble.
PeaceMaker would fall just short of a top 5 finishing 2 laps off the lead in 6th place behind Nick Bauerly in 5th. Nasty also finished 2 down and would get 4th place points
357 Magnum had a fast truck but didnt have enough in the end. He would come across in 3rd 1 lap behind.
DJoutback led 43 laps and was close in the end but he also didnt have enough horse power to catch Dale Sr.
Dale has had some testing early this year with this same truck. He was in a fall series and actully won the championship in this truck! He is showing us that he will be a top contender for the 2004 Xcom Nextel Cup Championship season.

Over all the race was as good as could be expected being the first run in the trucks together in the league.
I look forward to the season as well as the other series that will be run this year.

Tune in next week for the Cup Truck and IROC review!

Close racing brings trouble for 2 drivers in practice!
