RACELINE Motorsport

MISSION STATEMENT

Team Raceline Malaysia team owner Barry Leong runs a very tight racing outfit and he is no stranger in this motorsports field. He exercises strict discipline, demands nothing less than results and expects excellent all round team work.

“Hard work always comes with success!” is Barry’s philosophy. He has steered Team Raceline Malaysia into a professional, formidable and well respected racing team this year. The team secured a 500 cc wild card entry in the recent Marlboro Malaysian Grand Prix 1999 and became the first Malaysian team to achieve this phenomenon feat. The team also emerged 1st in the Castrol FIM Asia Road Racing Championship premier 250 S P category round 2 at Thailand,  1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th in the Superstock bikes during the Proton Merdeka race at Sepang circuit.

“To win with honour and fair play is very important to me.” said the manager of Raceline Motorcycle Sdn Bhd,  a company specialising in performance parts as well as servicing all kinds of superbikes. His workshop is situated at the busy Old Klang Road and is the authorised dealer and service centre for Suzuki and Ducati.

In the biking world, Barry is widely regarded as the “Si-Fu”. He takes the time to educate his customers about riding competitively as well as defensive riding in Safety Riding Clinics. He frequently organises the classes and track days at the Shah Alam and Pasir Gudang circuits. Organised tour rides to various destinations are also part of the activities catered by Raceline Motorcycles Centre Sdn Bhd.
“It’s all about passion you must have the love of the sport at heart. Motorsports as a business is like other business in that you need determination, discipline, experience, expertise and perseverance to succeed.”  added Barry, whose team today is regarded as the up and coming racing team in Asia.

A former racer himself, he has a long list of credits since he turned to motorsports management in 1996 when he managed the Petronas Sprinta TVK Racing Team in Malaysia. His team took the 1st and 2nd Overall title in the 250 cc category in the Marlboro FIM Road Racing Championship in 1996 and 1997 respectively.

After taking a break from team management in 1998, Barry is again  hungry for the elusive success in his passion. “I have spent a lot of time and energy in this field but it is still thrilling and challenging and I can still feel the strong urge to succeed further”
