Hi! My name is Janet Weiss. I am married to Craig and we have one daughter, three grandchildren and four cats. Our hobby is re-enacting 18th century living history of the Revolutionary War era. We are members of the 6th Pennsylvania Regiment. We have been able to visit many historic sites and participate in re-enactments all over the east coast of the United States. We have been allowed access to many historic homes and been allowed to go "beyond the ropes" that keep the tourists out. It is an experience that not many people are able to have. We have been behind the scenes at places like Colonial Williamsburg to see where they store their artifacts and to the costuming department to see how they clothe their employees. We were allowed on the third floor of Mount Vernon during a recent re-enactment and were able to look out of the oval window onto the bowling green and see all of the encampment. It was like looking back in time!
Now comes the tricky part. You want to know why I want to make a web page. Well, I don't particularly want to make a web page for myself. I work for BARTA (the Berks Area Reading Transportation Authority) and we are having a web page developed right now. Because I am going to be reponsible for the maintenance of the site and making any changes, I wanted to take a class so that I know what to do and why I am doing it. I am sure that the people who are doing the site for us would be happy to show me the basics, but I wanted to be able to understand more. So, when our website is up and running, you will be able to access the bus schedules and learn if there are any detours or route changes with a click of your mouse rather than having to call BARTA.
