| Swift Fox The swift fox {vulpes velox} is without question my favorite fox in the world. She is a small fox, only about the size of a housecat, with pale yellow and white fur and large ears in proportion to her size. She is fast, able to run at speeds approaching 45 miles per hour. Her downfall is her great curiosity and her relative fearlessness of people. For this she has been condemned as being less cunning than other foxes. But doubtless she has her own opinions about this. She is a fox, after all. |

| Swift Fox May 4, 2003 They say we are not cunning But Hell, who needs to be cunning When you're fast and light on your feet? Who needs guile When you're small and bold and agile Dancing out of harms reach A hot, quick rascal Made of gold and smoke? |
