Congratulations on making a website such an interesting website. I think it is important that people are able to tell/learn the truth about what happened in Germany during ww2. There is only one truth about what really happened, and the more people that are made aware of this the better.

I used to live in Germany when I was younger. I lived in Hamburg and on the Sembach AFB. My father was in the army, so we traveled a lot. I loved it there. I haven't been there in years though. Out of all the places that I've ever lived, I love German the most. I miss it a lot. Thank you for your time, Thena

I absolutely love History! I am a 14, nearly 15 year old, female English student and I am just coming to the end of my ninth year at school. I am currently studying The Cold War and I have just completed my unit of work on The Holocaust. ( I was deeply sa dened by the film "Schindler's List" ). For my final two compulsory years at school, I have chosen to take History as my Humanities option, as it is my all time favourite subject. After those two years are up, and I have hopefully past my History exam, I ould like to take History A Level in either College or at the 6th Form Base at my school. After college, I would like to join the Military Police Force in the Army, or go to university and study further History, and take a degree in the Korean Language. A yway, that is about all I have to say for now, except for that I hope everyone else enjoys History as much as I do, if that is possible! Oh yes, and thankyou to my History teacher, Mr.Endy at Holgate Comprehensive school, for all of his hard work and ded cation to this subject. Thanks a lot Sir, You are the best!!!!!!!

Very informative information. I am a grad student in 20th century asian history and I would like to comment on a few things in your WW2 section. I disagree with your comments about Germany's allies not being of much help in the war, and at times a hinderance. The japanese did much to aid the Axis in the war. The japanese conquered just about all of SE Asia, parts of Eastern Russia, and much of C ina. These conquests opened up a much needed stream of raw materials to the Axis war machine, which was severely lacking in materials. The new materials enabled the Axis to continue the war as long as they did. One interesting tidbit was that the Japan se and Germans were trading materials needed to produce the worlds first atomic weapon. One case, the sinking of the japanese sub I-52, was a failed attempt by japan and germany to exchange gold for supplies including Uranium(Sub was sunk by US aircraft) Both Japan and Germany were working on creating the bomb. To what extent the collaboration was, is not widely known. The japanese involvement in the war created a dual front for both the US and Russia. In the east, the japanese kept parts of the russian military busy and occupied parts of eastern russia. In the west the japnese kept the Americans busy by giving the US avy and Army a run for its money. Delving further into the events of the Pacific theater, the Japanese intially defeated the McArthurs navy in the pacific, and partially destroyed pearl harbor and the US pacific fleet. These actions kept a good portion f the US war machine at bay. By keeping much of the US navy busy in the pacific, Japan helped its European allies' in their attempt to control the Atlantic seas. The japnese attacked pearl harbor because it was becoming increasingly likely that the Unit d States was bound to enter the war. Many scholars believe that had Hitler launched a land invasion of England that the US involvement would have iminent. The US was also showing its cards by placing trade restrictions, which included steel, wood, iron, and other war type materials on the Ja anese. The Japanese felt that the US involvement was very likely to occur and that suprise attacking them first would be the most effective method of attack.

Sheesh, really boring people sign your guestbook, don't they? (Oopsies, maybe that was insulting... oh well...) Anyway, how about a story? Did you know that my sister-in-law's dog died because she (the dog, not my sister-in-law) got a hold of a bag of orn chips, started eating, and suffocated herself? Okay, wait, that wasn't my story... Um, oh, RIGHT! See, I was running a search for the Instrument of the Devi--err, I mean History class, and this little History O'Germany came up, even though I really on't care about the history of Germany, a voice came down and told me to click, so I did and I got my information and was happy. Then I read the little note on the bottom of the page and realized that this page was run by none other than Josef and Ulli a d I screamed and ran around in circles for a good 45 minutes. "Ulli!" I cried, "Ulli who's in my 3rd hour FST class whom Cara says is her best friend! Ulli!" After I had calm down and collapsed back into my chair, I felt moved enough to make a total id ot of myself and further perpetuate the suspicion that I abuse illegal substances in my free time by signing the guestbook.

Uhhh, we *said* that the pictures had been taken down. It is not an HTML error. The pictures no longer exist on our site. Sorry, but it's the way things have to be and we really have no say in the matter. Thanks Ulli

I was actually looking for information on Ignaz von Dollinger. I wish there was a biography in German, but so far I have been unable to locate one. There are probably out of print biographies in second-hand bookstores, but I have not found any of those on the internet.Greetings,Luc Sinnema

Having been educated in the US and having most of the historical material filtered through Britain, it has been most difficult to find the truth about this pivotable period which determined much of the 20th century. I realize that even if my Deutsch were as good as it had been in school, it would still be difficult to find sources not imbued with political correction. Do you have recomendations of book or articles written during or after the war, (1920's}.
