Not at all what you'd expected, huh?
"Well," she explains quickly, "I'm not exactly human either! I'm obviously a tiger person. But when I'm on certain worlds, I can appear to be whatever I need to, to get along. When I'm visiting Pern, I'm human (or close to it anyway), when I'm on some other world I might show up as an elf, or a full tiger, or whatever! My normal home is called the Center, I live there with my love-bunnie Seven, and we've got three kits of our own."
She walks down a pleasantly carpeted and painted hallway, showing you pictures of her kitlings.
"Benjamin, Caitlin, and Lydia," she says, pointing at each of their pictures.
