Impressed at Xaviea Weyr! Go BACK to the Hatchling!

K'ly and Sapphrith were beginning to fly. The winds over Xaviea weyr were indeed chilled and it was only then that K'ly and L'skan truly understood the need for the heavy riding leathers and warm helmets. Their dragons of course had no problem dealing with the chill, as their hides were still shedding as they grew but were already quite thick. I am still itchy, K'ly. When we are done with this practice flight you will oil me, right? Me and half the weyrbrats I can find, Sapph. Not a chance I'm oiling you alone. But if you let other people do it, I will not get a chance to be alone with you! "... Sapphrith, we're ALWAYS together! You wherry hen! I," K'ly snugged himself down over the blue's neck, "will always be with you. Forever. I promise." The dragon gave off a bugle of pleasure and then took to the air with his short, powerful blue wings flapping hard. They reached their goal quickly, but then did a second swoop around the target of the tall pole with the Xaviea weyr's flag on it. While they did that, the larger, heavier brown Lyrath with L'skan on him made their first pass. We are so much faster than the browns! "Just wait until a gold's flight, Sapph, you'll see them flying awfully fast..."

The visit to the old Fosterling cothold went very well. All the children who seemed eager to fly got their chance, some for the very first time. Finally, when the day was nearing darkness, K'ly heard from Sapphrith that they were wanted in the Weyr now. "Brother, it's time." He said, simply. "We will come back, soon enough." They again mounted up, and bid the Fosterling cothold clear skies. Betweening into the Protectorate's main weyr at Blackstone, they discovered that their absence had been felt a little too dearly, for Thread had been falling nearby. We ought to have been here, K'ly... Bespoke the blue, with both regret and disgust in his voice. "I know, but they could have called on us sooner, too." K'ly said as one of the riders from their companion Wing walked by. The Stone Fury riders had taken care of most of the Threadfall, however the Hunters wing had sustained a bit of injuries even though they were most expert themselves. L'skan agreed grumpily that they could have left earlier, and been summoned so as well. But there was nothing for it.
