There are several institutes that offer the MBA
course. However the standard of MBA education in the country has depreciated a
lot in the last few years with most institutes being bureaucratic, university
oriented with poor faculty and infrastructure. Often they are found luring students
providing them with misleading information about the quality of the institute.
There are also several ratings published in News Magazines such as Business
India, Business Today, Asia Week etc. However one should not take all these
very seriously as most ratings are incoherent with the institutes real worth.
In my personal opinion you should look at
the Top 20 institutes in the country while planning for an MBA. There are
several factors that make up a good Bschool namely:
1) Placements
2) Brand perception
3) Faculty
4) Systems
5) Infrastructure
Placements are usually the best criteria
which one could use to find out the real worth of a Bschool. Quite importantly,
its the Brand name that really makes a difference. Faculty strength in the
sense of not just numbers but the quality of faculty (industrial experience)
also matters. Systems refer to the routine at the Bschool and the kind of
syllabi, the examination & grading systems, the extracurriculars, the
practical experiences, the overall MBA programme etc. Infrastructure is an
important attribute that includes facilities of library, computer labs &
other resources available to students.
Going by the above I have made on my own a
small table indicating the Top Bschools of India. The grading of A to E are
provided indicating relative strength of one Bschool over another. Within a
given grade, the Bschools are generally perceived the same.OR CLICK HERE TO
