Here are Markus's Stats and some of the delivery details.
Well, our time finally came. At about 12:30 am on April 8, Leanne woke up not seeming to be able to go to sleep again. At about 2-3 am (we're not quite sure what time it was), contractions were happening every 8 minutes. Leanne was calm, timing the contractions, while I was too busy sleeping in between acting in my role as timekeeper of the contractions. Leanne called out when she wanted me to start timing, then I would be half asleep, when I all of a sudden realized that I couldn't remember what time I started counting from. It was all very confusing. Anyways, once Samer was up and about and we started getting a bit organized, we realized that the situation probably warranted a visit to the hospital. We got ourselves together and packed up the car for our little 5 minute road trip to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital at 7:30 am, not knowing whether we were just going to be sent back home or not. Well at 8:00 am Leanne was dilated 5cm and by 9:00 am she was at 6 cm. It looked like we were in for the game. Cheryl (an amazing friend of ours) and Georgia (Leanne's mom) were in the delivery room with me and Leanne. The team worked together surprisingly well once Georgia and Ed hustled their way out to Chilliwack from Burnaby. Cheryl was helping Leanne with her breathing, while Georgia and Samer assisted in the "Bearing Down". Wow, what an experience. The pushing started at about 10:20 am and by 11:00 am, we were parents of a bouncing baby boy. Leanne was absolutely great in there. She was calm, cool, and focused throughout the whole experience. Everybody involved was thoroughly impressed. After several stitches and quite a bit of blood lost, Leanne finally got to hold Markus. It was a beutiful site. Mommy and Markus are resting comfortably and doing well. Check out the stats above.
