Welcome to the Calleva RA Group's web site

The Calleva RA group belongs to the Hampshire RA Area  which is part of the Ramblers Association. The group's area  is centered in the triangle between Basingstoke, Reading and Newbury. This area was once the site of the important Roman province capital Calleva, hence the name of this group.

What we are about

Enjoying ourselves - On a variety of walks, (short, long, easy, difficult, etc.) with a diverse and interesting group of people.

Encouraging walking - To help all persons to a greater knowledge, love and care of the countryside.

Countryside preservation - The preservation and enhancement for the benefit of the public of the beauty of the countryside.

Footpaths - The provision of, preservation of, and the prevention of obstruction to public rights of way over footpaths and other ways used mainly for footpaths.

Access - The provision and preservation of public access to open country (freedom to roam).

Interested ?
The group is only just forming (currently 90 members). We will have a skeleton walks program to start from the 19th May (details to follow) and a full program will be implemented as soon as practical.
