| December 17, 2002 Merry Christmas! Our wish for our friends and family is that during this busy holiday season, you will take the time to stop and remember the real REASON FOR THE SEASON...the birth of Jesus. He came to Earth as a baby and eventually died on the cross to save us from our sins. He rose from the dead and is alive today! That's what Christmas is all about! Noah is 20 months old now. It's weird to say 20 months, but it's VERY weird to say, "he'll be 2 in April". He's really talking a lot now. They're not real words, but we understand them. His favorite past-time is to stand at the window and watch for the "maa maa" (mailman). He drives a mail truck and Noah is very fascinated with vehicles of any kind right now. You have to be on your toes, though, because his favorite food right now is "maa maa" (macaroni and cheese). So, it can get confusing sometimes. We think he's excited about Christmas, but we're not sure. He thinks Santa is a gorilla. His Gram T. taught him what the gorilla does (imagine a chest-beating, bellowing toddler) and he does that every time he sees a picture of Santa. We haven't seen him in person, yet, but I'm thinking of just telling him we're going to visit the gorilla. Then, maybe he won't cry as much as last year. Have a Merry Christmas! |

| May 22, 2003 As Robby plainly stated this week, our child is a "konkey"(pronounced "kun-kee"), part kid, part monkey. In the past few days, he has supplied us with plenty of humor. (We have to laugh to keep from crying.) In a series of comical events, it all began when he climbed into his crib (a feat he had not attained until now), took off his dirty diaper, and smeared its contents all over the sheets, blankets, his clothes, and his body. The next day, he got an eggshell out of the trash and licked the inside of it. Fearing salmonilla poisoning, I washed his mouth out with antibacterial soap, which he thought was quite yummy. The following day (no, I promise I'm not making any of this up), we went for a walk. We try to exercise the "konkey" on a daily basis so he'll eventually sleep and we can recover and reenergize. As most little boys do, he likes to jump through mud puddles. He even says, "Shoes wet." That day, he found the biggest one and instead of wading through this one, he layed down on his tummy in the middle of the road and tried to drink the water like a dog. (I think I grabbed him before his tongue actually touched the water). I guess he wondered if the puddle water tastes any different than the water from the fridge! Ahhhhh....the terrible twos are upon us! : ) |
