October 28, 2000 Quick update: My appointment on Monday (10/23) went well. Robby wasn't able to go because he is teaching a class. We listened to the heartbeat, which was much louder on the Doppler this time. It was in the 140s. The normal range is 140-160, lower indicating a boy and higher, a girl. So far, my predictions are right on! The doctor said it will get louder each time. Then, we played "Scare the Mama into Premature Labor" by presenting the total bill and telling me it's due at my next appointment! AAACCKK!!! Babies are expensive these days! We straightened that out. Next appt.: Nov. 16 (sonogram) and Nov. 30
October 4, 2000 Right now, our family consists of the two of us, Robby and Amy, plus our two miniature Dachshunds, Julio and Eliza. In April, though, all of that will change. Our first baby will be here on or around April 4, 2001. We will use this website to update our family and friends before the birth and after.
October 2, 2000 Today was a big milestone because we heard the baby's heartbeat! Its rate was 164, which Dr. Watts said was perfectly normal. She found it very quickly with the Doppler, which was a great relief to us as we sat there with much anticipation. This was the first appointment with Daddy and he was VERY excited to be there. Our next appointment is October 23.

September 7, 2000 This is our baby's first portrait. You can see his eye sockets (the 2 black circles on the head), the arms, legs, and umbilical cord. This was at 10 weeks, so he's much bigger now. Our next baby photo date is November 14 and hopefully, we'll be able to tell if the little monkey is a boy or girl.

November 16, 2000 A mother's instinct is never wrong. It's DEFINITELY a boy! The sonographer called him a "flasher" several times and said it was very safe to paint the room blue. Click on the icon above to see some of the pictures. We are SO blessed! : )
December 28, 2000 Noah is six and a half months (26 weeks) in utero now! We can't believe how fast time has gone and that we only have 14 (or fewer) weeks left. He moves a lot now, especially when I lay down at night. He likes to kick for his Daddy and he does his kickboxing routine every morning when I wake up. Noah had a great Christmas. His Uncle Cory said it best--"the unborn child has more gifts than anybody here!". Noah got lots of cute clothes and a few special toys, including his first teddy bear from Nana D. We are SOOO ready for him to get here to try it all out! April 3rd will be here before we know it!
January 11, 2001 Happy New Year! We are doing great and time seems to really be flying. Only 12 weeks to go and hopefully, it won't be that long! Noah moves all of the time now and it's so wonderful--a feeling that can't be explained. Last night, I was lying in bed and set the remote control on my tummy. The next thing I knew, it was moving on its own! He is a very strong little boy. He weighs between 2 1/2 and 3 pounds now! Incredible! Our last dr. appt. was Monday. It took a minute to find his heartbeat because he kept kicking the Doppler. It was funny! His heart rate was 136--steady and strong! Monday is D.O.Y., the Day of Yuckiness. I have to drink some awful orange stuff and take a blood test to check for diabetes. All in the name of love, I guess!
February 5, 2001 8 weeks to go and counting! In fact, I went to the doctor today and my fundal heighth (size of my belly) had grown 3 cm in 2 weeks! She could tell how he was positioned, which was neat. He's already head down and will move a lot between now and his birthday, but she said he probably won't go "heads up" again. It's amazing that he can just hang upside down like that and it doesn't bother him! Time is flying and he'll be here VERY soon!
February 25, 2001 5 weeks to go and counting! As you can see, Noah has had a big growth spurt in the past few weeks. He is still head down and likes to jog in place on Mommy's ribs. He gets the hiccups a lot, too. We had our Preparation for Childbirth class this weekend, so we're ready now! The crib is ready, but as you can see, we haven't painted his room, yet. Hopefully, he won't be early and we can get it all finished over Spring Break.
March 21, 2001 I will try to make a long story short. At my 36 week appointment, I was measuring small (the size of my uterus). So, we had a sonogram and found out the amniotic fluid was low and Noah was only 5.5 pounds. So, my dr. ordered a Level II (more accurate and detailed) sonogram and said if the fluid was lower, we would deliver. So, on Monday (3/19), we went in thinking we might have him on Tuesday. However, the fluid was not low and he weighed approx. 6.5 pounds. So, it was good news, but we were a bit disappointed because we're so ready to hold him in our arms. We will continue to have the Level II sonograms weekly until he comes. My dr. did say that she won't let me go past my due date. So, one way or the other, we'll have a baby in less than 2 weeks. After 38 weeks of waiting, we are SO ready--the nursery is adorable and the hospital bags are packed. Mt. Pleasant (yes, just about the whole town) is on standby. We'll keep you updated! : )
