You take a few steps into the room and look around. The air is sweet and fresh from the open window. Stepping over to the window you look out: along the same wall, there are four or five other windows, including one that apparently goes into the storage room. You notice a dried red-brown stain smeared just below and on the windowsill of the storage room window.
The alley is very narrow, narrow enough for you to almost touch the opposite wall. There are a few padlocked doors, all very worn looking, along the alley. Looking to your left, the alley is blocked off by a high brick wall. Looking to your right out of the alley, you can see a back road, and the edge of the river. The river is brown from spring run-off.
You turn around to go back to the hallway, and just as you're leaving you notice a glint on the floor. Picking it up, it turns out to be a small silver key with a broken piece of twine threaded through it's eyehole.
